It is our firm belief that co-curricular activities contribute greatly towards the preparation of a competent and complete individual. YSIS pays great attention towards involving students in sports activities such as Swimming, Athletics, Karate, Cricket, Table Tennis, Volleyball, Netball, Basketball, Chess & Badminton. Today, we are very proud to announce that we have paved the path for our Yoshidians to be recognized both National and International level with their achievements. Not only sports the students of YSIS are benefited with enormous extra-curricular activities.
With the guidance of Mr. Hemantha Warnasuriya, our athletes were able to bring numerous achievements in track & field events. One of the notable achievements is of Dulshi Dilshara who won the 3rd place in Shot Put Under 14 Girls event at the Sir John Tarbat Junior National Athletic Championship 2017.
Another thriving sport event in the school, which shows the colour of our students, is Chess. In both years 2016 and 2017, Yoshidians were able to achieve National & International standards and brought fame to the school under the guidance of Mr. Yohan Ishara and Mr. Hemantha Warnasuriya. A young Yoshidian, Tharuli Vihasna was placed 05th in the West Asian Championship 2017 and brought fame to her school and the country.
Karate is a great sport which develops a child both physically and mentally. In other words discipline. In years 2016 & 17, our students were able to score several achievements in National level competitions. For example, Senethma Methdini became the Champion of the Sri Lanka National Karate Championship this year. The school team is guided by Mr. Deshadi Cooray.
Under the guidance of Mr. Harischandra Gamage, the school was able to produce many table tennis players and was able to achieve victories in numerous tournaments. One being, Shashri Akarsha was able to become the Under 15 Girls Champion of the All Island Novices Table Tennis Championship organised by the Women’s Working Group of Sri Lanka.

The Little Yoshidian Tharuli Vihanga Ranganath participated at Asian Youth Chess Championship 2018 at Thailand under 9 age category and she has leaded under 9 girls team to grab the Bronze medal of Blitz and Standard games.
